Partnership Working

Working in partnership is an important part of our approach at Monton Village Nursery and essential to a quality early years’ experience. Our first and most important partnership is with the children’s first and most enduring educators; their parents and carers! We value and respect the unique and special bond which parents have with their children and draw on this wealth of information to get a holistic view of the child. It is key that we work together to provide a consistent and secure approach to your child’s individual needs, whether that is weaning, sleep routines, toilet training or learning a new language.

Communication lies at the heart of this relationship and our staff will ensure that they establish effective partnerships so that we can share vital information between home and nursery; it is this information that really allows the nursery experience to be tailored for your child and family. Daily conversations and Tapestry updates lie at the heart of this partnership, as well as more formal reporting and opportunities for development meetings.

Through these approaches we ensure that parents are kept fully up to date on their child’s development and their next steps and have input in to what parents would like the staff to help develop. At Monton Village Nursery we aim for all of our parents to feel welcome, valued and that they can approach any of our team to discuss their child and it really is something that we welcome and value; our door is always open!

It is also fundamental that as a setting we maintain excellent partnerships with other professionals who may be involved in supporting children and families. We work closely with a variety of professionals across the early education field and welcome outside agencies in to our setting. We have established excellent relationships with the Health Visiting service and professionals from the local learning authority (Starting Life Well) to ensure that we have a strong support network in place for children and families if needed. We have also worked with a variety of medical professionals such as Speech & Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and Physiotherapists and really value their specialist input; their advice is always acted upon and we have made fantastic progress previously for children through working closely with them. These partnerships are vital to us and allow us to meet the individual needs of children to ensure that they have the best possible start.

Extra Services

  • At Monton Village Nursery we want to give as much peace as mind as possible to our parents; therefore we use the NurseryCAM service. This is a viewing service which allows our parents the opportunity to check in on their child over the course of their stay with us remotely. NurseryCAM also enables us as a nursery to manage our rooms and activities effectively. This viewing system is extremely secure and full details can be accessed via the link to the NurseryCAM website. Only parents are allowed to access viewing via the internet and they may only view their child's playroom when he or she is attending. The nursery has to authorise all viewing accounts and no one else can access the images. Parents are restricted to 15 minutes viewing each day and only between the hours of 9.30 -11.30am and 2.00-4.00pm so that viewing would not normally occur when parents are dropping off/collecting their children or during sleep time. NurseryCAM gives parents confidence - we have all seen the undercover horrors that have occurred in some nurseries. We have always been confident of our staff (otherwise we wouldn't provide parent viewing) but with the combination of management CCTV and parent webcams a transparency has been introduced where there can be no hiding place for bad practice.

  • At Monton Village Nursery we use a fantastic online system called Tapestry to record and store all our daily observations and assessments relating to each child. The observations are made using photos and videos to show the learning that has taken place. This is a safe and secure system and one that enables parents and carers to access their child’s learning journey at anytime, anywhere from a handy free app or website; families with relations in other countries have found this an invaluable way of sharing their child’s learning journey with distant loved ones! Parents can enjoy looking at the observations with their child and can talk about the activities together at home. Parents can also comment on observations and even post their own adventures or ‘wow’ moments into the Learning Journal to share with the nursery staff. This two way sharing of your child’s achievements, next steps and experiences is absolutely vital to providing the very best care and early education. This means that the parent partnership is strong as staff are able to build upon experiences and skills shared from parents at home much more readily within the setting via Tapestry. The staff and our parents absolutely love Tapestry and we are sure that you will too!
